Keep getting calls from this number and when I ring back no one answers and no answering message comes up. Don't know who this is. Can I get these calls stopped?

A large number of people have been called by the criminals using this fictitious number according to other sites. Their aim is to gain the confidence of people and persuade them to allow access to their computers so they can infect them. Yesterday I was out all day and when I returned I found no less than five calls from a slightly different but equally fictitious number, 01614379874, but still equally recognisable as fake from anyone who has had so many of these calls as I have. Claimed they were from BT about to disconnect my telephone and Internet service the funny thing is BT not my Internet or landline provider.

Had a miss call ,rang it back later no dialling tone ,disconnected after 10 seconds best to ignore this rubbish.

If you do answer the nuisance calls and it’s NOT an automated message, be polite to the agent, talk to him/her. Remember they are on commission, so waste their time. State you are interested in their SCAM products. Give them false info. If you can arrange a rep to visit, do it at a local café and don’t turn up. I think you get the idea. This is probably where lying would be acceptable even if it’s not in your nature.
