Apparently BT, they wanted to check on an issue with our router. Queried why they were calling when not with BT and they gave me some spiel about BT being the provider for all routers, sounded like a scam and they hung up.
PPI claims. Automated message at first then gives an option to speak to someone. They then claim your bank has sent a message saying you ve overpaid PPI. Must be a scam as I ve never had credit card, mortgage, hire purchase or any other loan and I don t think my bank even has my current phone number. Hung up on me when questioned.
The point of the scam is to find gullible people who will believe what they say. They are crooks who once they find a victim will ask them for personal details and /or credit card/bank details "So we can proceed with our refund to you" They then commit identity fraud or empty your bank account. A survey that I supposedly took some months ago, they asked if I have ever worked in a noisy environment and did it affect my hearing, after saying "pardon" about 5 times I tried another tactic,I continually ask for "their policy number" this seems to have done the trick as I haven t heard from them in weeks now.
Using 1471, I found there had been a call supposedly from this number. Reading other suggestions that it related to the Telegraph newspaper then I would rate this as trustworthy in relation to what they are trying to promote.
