Caller initially claimed to be calling from the University of Sussex, asking me to undertake an online research survey. Then they wanted our email address, and I enquired why was that necessary if the survey was online - all they needed to do was provide me with the web address. The caller later later confirmed they were an independent market research company , and continued to ask for my email address. Of course, I never provided it.

SCAM / SPAM A man rang my landline and asked if I'd had trouble with my Sky broadband connection. I told him I hadn't, but that didn't put him off! He asked me to go to the router and tell him what colour the lights were. I told him I'd noticed he didn't say my name when I answered the phone, so said I suspect he's not from Sky. After doing an online insurance comparison on go compare, they call 2 or 3 time in quick succession until you answer. They are just following up your quotation, but if I do a comparison on line, it s because I don t want the hassle of talking to people like this on the phone. Ironically, they were the cheapest quote but it did put me off a little. I ve still got 2 days to decide and will probably go with them so they don t really need to be doing these "follow up" calls.

SCAM - claim to be from Sky broadband technical team. I questioned this and they started shouting at me and making threats. They were ordering me to turn on my computer and go to a website. I told them no, I wouldn't do this. He then said that he wasn't asking me to pay him money, not that I'd ever mentioned this. I told him he had about as much chance of getting money out of me as I Prince Philip did of seeing Christmas, I don't think he got the joke. He continued to threaten me. Told me to watch out
