TAXES / HMRC scam
Called twice in two days, claimed to be named "Alice" the first time (unlikely, given her heavy Indian accent), claimed to be from BT Openreach. We use a VOIP system so I put the phone down. Second time, gave no name but claimed to be calling from "[y]our electricity provider". I asked her which one, she took a stab at EDF (wrong), so I told her to do her homework better and put the phone down again. I checked the phone number and it was the same both times 02031295

Call center -operative claimed to be from Virgin Media Technical Services; said he needed me o take my (landline phone) into the room with the computer, then turn it on, so he could do something to my router, to "give me the speed [I] was paying for". I've had at least four calls from these guys (with heavy Asian accents, to the point of not being able to be understood); it is the same script, but the calls have come from a number of different phone numbers in the West Midlands. Who knows

A man named Derek called from 01236 362229 saying he was from my internet supplier, when pressed said Open Reach, wanted to know router details. Eventually he hung up when no info given to him.

Received another nuisance phone call yesterday from Nexbridge Communications Ltd still about energy saving. They are using local dialling codes but they are based in Manchester. They are also showing on google maps as being locally based but it comes up on the may as Media Shower Company who are actually based in Northampton, USA NOT UK

I once answered the phone and asked who is it and they automatically cut off. I find it strange how this is becoming the norm all of a sudden. I refuse to change my number though if you call me, I think it is only right that you introduce yourself first. Since they did not I know they have something to hide!!! I have blocked this number without answering. It calls daily, sometimes several times in a day. It is clearly a scamming caller.
Calls several times everyday asking about "my account". They have my name wrong. I have no account. I have no debts with anyone. I do not need any credit as I have cash savings of over £500k and a share portfolio worth £400k
