Called my house number. Silence then hung up!

Original call number came in as V21309255500012, when picked up and answered, no response, just silence. After hanging up, hit CID button (caller ID) and the new number was revealed as 1-778-555-0161, a number from British Vancouver.

If you answer there is nobody there. If you call back it doesn t connect

My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Today i was called by this number and guranteed a loan of 2000 and i paid then a 50 ukash voucher and they told me to wait until 7 and then the money would be in my account yet now it is not, i have tried the phone number again and noone is answering this number is a scam and i think that the police should do something about it

I answered but I didn't speak. It hung up after a few seconds. Blocked it just in case.
