Call center SPAM Said his name was Alex, however he had a very strong Indian accent. He said that he was phoning from British Gas!? It was about boiler cover, house hold cover for both gas and electric. Asked a couple of questions. Asian person said he was from the Telephone Preference Service. Had my surname and flat no/postcode. Said they can stop scammers calling - know that the TPS cannot do this with numbers that may look like UK nos but are routed from Asia. Really nasty, threatening scam from this number. The message said HMRC had a tax fraud case listed against my name and I should press 1 to connect to the HMRC investigating officer to discuss the case. It then went on to say that if I didn't I would be arrested for tax fraud - I knew it was not true but some people could be really scared and stressed by this horrible scam.

Got this call today on my mobile and been told that I am eligible for 3 free tickets for Euro Millions for this Friday. It was all just a catch, so you can sign a verbal contract for a year for syndicate were they charge you ?40 a month and offer 100% winning. The guy had my full name and full address and tried to get my bank details - once I dais twice No - hung up like a coward.
It says this is Clearanswer, a marketing company and one of BTs partners.....comments from the general public seem to suggest otherwise. A very foreign voice suggested my BT contract was coming to an end. I don’t discuss new contracts with a cold caller. When I said it wasn’t due to be renegotiated she hung up...not the sort of thing a genuine person would do.
Claimed to be BT about our internet problems. There is a big problem, we don t have BT Internet.
