I suspect they are attempting to collect data but any purpose but are rude in doing so without clear procedure or any accountability. If this is an unsolicited call I would advise against giving any details.

He replied that his name was Sam and then asked me again to confirm my name. I simply asked him why was he calling and he replied "Because you are an idiot person" and promptly hung up.
