I let him talk for a bit before asking for his company's Financial Conduct Authority registration number at which point he got very nervous and said "once you have agreed to go ahead, we have people that can provide you with information." I got a call this morning (Sunday) at 08:30. It's a good job I didn't answer otherwise they would have had a piece of my mind. I work for a telecoms provider myself and, like to police our outbound customers to make sure they're not doing crazy stuff like this.
I am sure they are loan sharks. No contract, no emails, no letters, just calls.

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 17529375xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with accident chasers, insurance marketing and PPI. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new? I really don't answer unknown numbers and don't want to call them back...
