Safe number I received a missed call from this number but none of the 'who called me' websites had any comments and I wanted to know who had called. As the number is local to me, I took a chance and called them back, It's the Boots Opticians Appointment Booking Centre so it's quite safe. They have written to me several times as I'm due for my eye test but I just hadn't got around to making an appointment. I'm leaving this comment just to let other searchers know who called.

On answering, I got a recorded message saying it was something to do with bank security, followed by a message that was intended to frighten. I hung up, and have blocked the number. Safe number noticed this number once every month on my telephone bill with a monthly charge of 14p. Turns out it is an automatic test call from PPP Taking Care alarm which we have for elderly mother. Called them to ask why we are being charged as we pay a quarterly handling charge. They very kindly switched this to a freephone number so no more charges.

I never answer calls from unknown numbers as they're usually either a scam or trying to sell me something I don't want. If it's an important call and they really need to speak to me then they would probably leave a message. I live Manchester area and there's no reason for anyone from London area to contact me.

Domestic and General asking me if I wanted to have breakdown cover for my fridge freezer and cooker as well as my washing machine ( which I currently have). A bit insistent when I said no, and asked why so when I said ‘because I don’t want to’ she ended the call. It was quite a friendly manner but as above, quite pushy. Asked me to contact them if I change my mind.
