Called my home phone asking to speak with a business, told them no business here. Kept calling so I entertained the call until they asked for my bank details. When I said i was with metro bank, they said never heard of it. That was the second red flag, the first was him saying they hadnt heard of E-on Energy - as calling from OPUS. So When he suddenly found metro bank on his system and asked for my sort code i was quite rude and said F Off stop scamming people.
Said they were from amazon about suspicious activity on my account. I then had same call from two different numbers. Contacted Amazon by email who said this was not them

SCAM / SPAM When I answered the call an automated voice told me that it was HMRC and I was being investigated for tax fraud. It said to press 1 to be taken to HMRC. I pressed 1 and a lady with an Indian accent answered saying she was HMRC and "how can I help you?" I explained that I had just answered the phone to this number saying I was being investigated and she asked for my name. Shortly afterwards, I looked up Cambridge Joining Technology Ltd, which turns out to be a real company, and called the mobile number on its website and warned the man that his company name is being used. He didn't recognise the number.

Phone rings, 2 seconds of sounds of a busy call centre, then a rather posh Indian says "Mr.M#####k?" I say "Yes" He continues, "My name is (bogus Indian name) this is the call blocking service..." and I hung up. I don't know why I bother answering the phone nowadays, 99% of the time it is a scam. The only reason I answered this time, is that I am expecting my second Covid-19 jab invite, and another important call. How long is this farce going to continue
