Rang saying they were from Openreach. My landline is cable with Virgin so I wouldn't need to be contacted by them. Hung up on them as probably a scam.

Received 5 calls from this number on my landline today, 3 calls within 4 minutes, another one 15 minutes later and the last an hour and a half later. I leave the answer machine on, there was one automated message only that didn't inform me of anything. I've wondered why there are so many messages all of a sudden when I've had a quiet few days. I did receive a call from Home Start on a local 01267 number that I answered a half an hour before my first silent call. Maybe there is a link there.

Like all the other comments, this was a recorded message claiming to be from Inland Revenue (I should have smelled a rat immediately at that point - it s HMRC now...) and that I was being sued. Brain not in gear, and in panic, dialled 1, but silence at the other end, then call terminated. I am now so angry. This was actually just an automated BT text-to-landline service telling me the time slot for my Costco parcel delivery that I was expecting, so this was completely legit for me. It will try ringing you several times until you listen to the text message so just listen and it will stop. However, as it's a generic BT service it is open to abuse but I would advise against blocking it because the message delivery service itself is not a scam, just be aware though that the message you receive could be bogus.
