A large number of people have been called by the criminals using this fictitious number according to other sites. Their aim is to gain the confidence of people and persuade them to allow access to their computers so they can infect them. Yesterday I was out all day and when I returned I found no less than five calls from a slightly different but equally fictitious number, 01614379874, but still equally recognisable as fake from anyone who has had so many of these calls as I have. called my 84 year old mother today mentioning landlines and HSBC. She's been made very aware of scams so he didn't get anywhere, but hasn't come up in any scam searches so a miniscule chance it could have been legit. Won't put money on that though
