A foreigner called saying he was from British Gas who handle our Electricity account. Only British Gas doesn't handle our electricity account? I advised him that I suspected he was a scammer. I advised him not to call us again otherwise I would report the number to the Information Commissioners. I then ended the call.

Claim they have some money to give me ref an Automobile incident, if I give them details of the incident they will send a cheque. I said just send it, they got angry and said if I dont tell them the details they will not give me my money. Obvious scam.

I will let you all into a little secret shall I? It s not the callers who are intentionally calling you. And no matter how many times you ask to stop the calls - the management are the ones who feed your number back into the system to be called. Even though it s against the rules - if there is no data left to dial, they will just keep calling the same numbers even though it s against the data protection act. They are not allowed to do this. Line for shared costs, there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. This seems to be some good working money trap, similar numbers are reported as a scam offers - unclaimed bank charges, PPI, uncalimed financial services. I would recommend to block the whole 08437243xxx range... Did someone answer this number?
