Fraud. Automated female recorded voice claiming to be from Amazon wanting to give me back £79. Wanted me to press 1 to talk to customer services, to provide my bank details. Didn't bother as never had an Amazon account and can spot a scam a mile off.

Upon answering a call on the land line around 18:30 this evening, the caller hung up so out of curiosity I dialled 1471 (UK), the call back service and I pressed 3 on my phone to be put directly through to the missed call number. I didn t catch the receivers company name but heard a American or maybe Canadian Man s accent and instructions for extension required. My husband passed the call to me as it related to my washing machine insurance renewal so I did not hear any name or how the call started. He did rather a hard (and fast) sell with a reduced annual figure but taking 3 years immediately. He seemed to have details of my current annual figure. I checked with D&G who deal with the insurance and they did not recognise the phone number as belonging to anyone working for them.

Called to tell me I had a loan in 2004, and I would get money back, totally rubbish. Could hardly understand him. He did ask me to confirm my address, and he did know my name. Scary! Glad I hung up.
