SCAM sounded like a genuine call from Virgin Media about internet problems. Said their server had been receiving errors from my hub. Suspicious when they started asking me what apps I ran on my phone. Even more suspicious when they wanted me to download remote control software so they 'could show me the problem ' Noticeable change in tone when I said I was an IT professional. Hung up the phone and called Virgin who confirmed they'd never ask someone to download software.

They cold-call phoned me about renewal of insurance on kitchen white goods. They needed some banking details to alter the payment paperwork because they were giving me a no-claims discount. Knew enough about me to make this plausible. I 'needed to go to an appointment' [actually true] so I had to ask them to phone back tomorrow - which they were readily willing to do. This is a scam number with an automated voice concerning an order from Amazon. I do not have an Amazon account. This call is likely from a scamming call centre in India. Not the first time I've been targeted, each time from a different number. I put the phone down. Recommended: programmes by Rav Wilding on BBC iPlayer and repeated on BBC1. His team have viewed such scams. The scammers get into your phone.
