Number came up on my phone as "Jack the box" (not promising, but also means they've listed themselves as a company I believe). Offering a competitive rate on my bushes electricity. I didn't believe him but told him he could email me the offer and I'd review it. He called back briefly afterwards to ask my name (which he spelt so wrong that I didn't correct it!) I told him I didn't want my email to be sold to anyone or that I didn't want to recieve 3rd party emails No email arrived

A woman with a foreign accent knew my name. She identified she was calling from ‘Advantage’. I told her I was working and she said she would be really quick but had a few questions about households. I repeated that I was working and hung up. Advantage deal with Pets. We don’t have any pets, nor have we ever had any pets, so whoever passed them my details did not do their research.
I too hit the link about Sean Connery, got this message with the spoken text - Microsoft - dangerous virus - we'll have to block your computer to stop it infecting our servers, blahblahblah - and clicking on the checkbox to make it go away has no effect. So, like your correspondent above I powered down then up again after a couple of minutes. All fine. Don't fall for it.
