Supposed job offer, but refused to provide details citing "confidentiality". Knew some public information about me (probably from LinkedIn) and immediately wanted confirmation of my work history and a copy of my CV. Very suspicious.

This is the UK version of a scam running amok in the US. The supposed company, microsoftechs.com, contacts people and claims there is an issue with their computer. The claim to be partnered with Microsoft and gain confidence with all the classic scam talk. If you do get scammed, they will access your computer via remote access, go through your email, install software and who knows what else. Been getting calls from this number over last few days so called them back. First a woman answered, seemed like it was the last thing she wanted to do and told me the line was bad so she would call me back. No call back so I called again. I used ring back - not a good idea on reflection. The male voice asked my name and so I asked his. He said "Roger". I felt this was a bit inadequate and so asked again at which point he got stroppy: "I ve told you". I hung up.

Generally when there s a long pause before they answer, it s safe to say it s a call centre that I m going to have zero interest in talking to. Whistle loudly down the phone. They don t tend to call back again. ;)
