SCAM / SPAM Received fake text from HMRC. Extremely convincing replica website. Inadvertently divulged enough info for them to attempt to steal money from my account.

Rang me 4 times in one day. I don't know anyone in Halifax so ignored it at first. Shouldn't have answered that last call! It's a nuisance call asking what broadband and phone contract I have and when it ends. Then asked what TV package I have too. My advice: don't answer!

This number seems to be used for a classical telemarketing, or it is a directly some general call centre. They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. In this case the number is mostly reported in connection with pension reviews ("Pension Advice Bureau"), accident claims, payment protection (PPI). Said he was called Jack from BT Business Head office and he could do me a better deal than by Local BT Business office. Jack, you seem to be the only person working for BT Business as you are the only person making these sales calls, for such a large business!!. I don't believe this is BT as you can see in other searches Jack seems to be the only person making these calls, probably to gain information about your business. He didn't get any from me. Possibly dangerous.

SCAM The caller was a recorded message suggesting they were from a Londoon Magistrate and stated that if I choose to ignore this information then my National Insurance number will be blocked and stop working. After another threat they told me to press 1 to speak to the officer in charge of the case. At which point I hung up.

Consumer research....and as like all these type of operations...when someone actually answers the phone at the customer end, the call is put through to an operator...if there is one available, hence the silence if one is not immediately there. They do state, if calling the number back, to leave your name and number to remove you from the database, which I have....so we shall see if these "nuisance" calls do actually stop!

Asked for me by my surname, says he was calling from a claims team, I must have sounded suspicious when I asked claiming for what, he ended the call.

SCAM message telling you you are about to be arrested for fraud. HANG UP. It asks you to press 1 if you want more details.
