SCAM: Fifth identical call today, once an hour, from different phone numbers (probably all spoofed) Automated female voice, claiming to be from BT Internet Dept, who have supposedly been trying to call me urgently, because of ‘suspicious activity’ on my account. My internet & line will be disconnected. Press 1 to speak to an ‘executive’ to rectify this.

My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. I have the TruCaller App (Free version) it notifies you of scams, etc before you answer. I will be using this on my new phone, it s a great little App and instantly told me this was a PPI scam. I recommend this App to anyone, and I blocked this number straight away. All numbers TruCaller checks against a huge database of Blaclisted phone numbers.
