My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Being a resident of Wigan Borough I answered this Wigan number (01942) in case it was something important. Caller identified themselves as Insurance Review, saying I needed to review my Life Insurance, they mentioned the panel of insurers they work on behalf of and said they give impartial advice . I can t say whether they are legitimate or not, but seems like they re just a 3rd party sales/referral channel for these insurers. Probably nothing more than an irritation, but I would avoid giving details
