Claiming to be British Gas- I used to work in anti fraud and this call was a classic scam call.
An automated recording of a woman, calling regarding a car accident involving my car ... I do not drive, when I pointed this out it asked So when did the accident occur ? And then promptly hung up. Just a nuisance number.

Got to say as well, for the Home, BT’s ’Call Guardian’ phones are a serious piece of kit! Stops Cold Callers dead in their tracks. I’ve never had such blissfull peace since getting one a couple of years ago. EVERY HOME SHOULD THEM AS STANDARD! Folks, buy your elderly / vulnerable relatives and friends one for Christmas, etc... they’ll thank you forever and you’ll get peace of mind knowing they’re protected from scammers.
Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 16233404xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with funeral plans, surveys, insurance marketing, accident claims, PPI. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new?

Called claiming to be from virgin media. Asked to press ctrl and r on your computer. This is the start of the process to allow remote access. I'm aware of someone who did this and then had an attempt to have internet banking set up. Someone else had their bank account emptied after doing what they asked. I told them I wasn't prepared to do anything as was aware of scams from people claiming to be calling from virgin media. They hung up straightaway then.
