Also similar number called me recently (01158240559 with pension review offers), probably the same marketing company? don't wanna call back since I do not know the number - it could be just a robocaller testing if my number is responding, don't want to let them know my line is active... Just had a call from this number 001-979-823-4079. Guy with poor english said the files on my Windows computer were infected by a download of infected files. Wanted to speak to the owner of the PC. After stringing him along for a while I told him to get lost as it was a scam. He hung up.

Very suspicious of this call. Never been approached by HMRC like this before. Thank you for those who have explored this. It's obviously a scam.
Caller told me they were from visa and someone was trying to use my card for something costing over £900. It said I should press 1 to cancel or 2 to go ahead. Its obviously nothing to do with Visa so I pressed nothing and hung up the call immediately.
