I was called at lunchtime today from phone no. 01618501883. A recorded message stated that they were from HMRC and that there was a lawsuit against me and that I should press 1 to speak to my case officer. I knew it was a scam and looked on this website to confirm the fact. How many people fall for this scam (especially the elderly)? I know an individual can block these numbers and I have done just that. But surely if HMRC or other organisations are aware of this scam, BT should be able to block/disconnect

They called me today, quickly searched their number as they were ringing and hung up as soon as I read these comments. Its clear they are making lots of calls recently, and apparently they just want to argue with you by looking at the comments. This company hold all my information, initially the called and said they were MAC, I checked online but found no such company they then called again asking for my partner(different number than mine) about making a claim for a car accident. They had a detailed account of what happened and where, but were very evasive when challenged as to where they had obtained the data from. It is my opinion that these companies are buying information from insurance companies!
