Fraud - this was an automated call supposedly from HMRC, which said that there was a tax fraud case in my name and unless I pressed 1 and speak to the officer overseeing the case. If I didn't, there would be a warrant issued and I would be arrested shortly. This is disgusting - what if it had gone to a vulnerable or confused person. It didn't mention my name, but if someone is frightened enough that will not register.

SCAM This was almost definitely a scam of some kind. The caller spoke with accented English in a location with a huge amount of background chatter. He claimed to be from Carphone Warehouse offering very low prices on iPhone, Samsung and Huawei mobile phones. I do not think it was actually Carphone warehouse, as I have never provided my details to them and I would expect they had a call centre environment that sounded a bit less like the outside of a busy London pub on a sunny evening.

Automated voice stating they where calling from HMRC and that there was a fraudulent case against me and if I did not press 1 immediately then a warrant would be issued and I would be arrested. I keep getting calls from this number:- +441616673230. Typically, they ring off before I can answer. I ve tried ringing back and a recorded message tells me "not to worry" and that they will call me again later. There are three Google pages about this number and no-one knows any more than I do!
