Automated message from national crime agency to suspend NI number

A gentleman with an Indian accent called he was from the Telephone Preference Service asking if I was still receiving nuisance calls. Went on to ask me to confirm the expiry date on my card, "the one that the direct debit for my phone bill is paid from". Knew by this stage that it was a scam to get bank details so told him I was not prepared to give any details over the phone and hung up. Within minutes of ending the call, the number called back but I did not answer.

Once they got that, they told me I am wanted for fraud, which is a criminal offence and asked if I have a criminal lawyer I can contact. There are some dodgy people going around London fixing stickers to peoples doorbells and front doors that say "24/7 LOCKSMITH 07379 253 353". There have been news reports that these type of stickers are used by criminals to identify which properties can later be burgled. This may or may not be the case with these stickers but any locksmith that advertises by sticking stickers on other peoples property without permission, are untrustworthy in my book. Claimed they were talktalk & my broadband was slow & they would fix it by giving me thi gs to type into my pc then log in to my bank account to get ref number which they said would give me a compensation refund of £404. Told them I'm not going to log on while he was on the phone with me & controlling my pc. He didn't sound too happy when I said I'm not going to log in to my account he insisted it was to claim my money, I said no & he said goodbye & hung up.
