The called did not know where I was from so admitted they are in Bangalore before I pointed out they were using a virtual London number. Told me my appliance cover was expiring shortly. When I said I wanted to make a claim he changed his mind and said it had expired. SCAM obviously, but who issues these phone numbers knowing they are used to defraud - somewhere a legit company has to be issuing these. They are no better.

He said he was ringing about the cover on the washing machine at (gave my address), he said it had expired and he just wanted to check if the machine was still in good working order.
