Nuisance call claiming that I had an accident recently.when challenged made excuses and terminated the call. I would like to know how they got my number as I am meticulous about not giving my number to any outlet that may pass my number on to a third party

Phoned saying they were talktalk technical department and that I have been having problems with my router. Told me to go to my router and then she tried getting me to do all sorts of stuff to get access to my pc. Automated spam from company called Red Star about a possible insurance claim. Complete fishing exercise. Had about half a dozen missed calls over a few days before I was able to answer. Looks like the number is used by other companies (possibly allied). I would advise adding to your reject list.
