I got a robotic call from HMRC claiming that I am guilty of tax fraud. On the HMRC website, this is listed as an example scam call.
Computer generated voice telling me I was being investigated for Tax Fraud and if I didn't press 1 to connect to someone I would be arrested. As if! Presumably this would connect me to some high charge rate number.

Keep getting calls and spoof texts, they claim to be Scottish Power but they are not. They tell me my number is linked o a SP account but I rang SP from their website number and they have advised me there is no account with my number. I was contacted by the "supposed recruiter" asking me to call Bank of America. The phone I've called (this phone) does not belong to Bank of America. All seemed very legit..........UNTIL he told me he needed my full card number to put a stop on a further 12 transactions !!! The only way to get at these people is to go onto the Information Commisioner s website and report the number. If enough of us do this, they will investigate the number. There are very heavy fines for companies who do this. Report them every time you get a call - it is very easy to do.
