Sent random string of numbers and letters as a text message
They re working officially on behalf of Dennis Publishing, offering £1 for 3 magazine trials via Direct Debit. They usually call about a month or after cancelling a magazine to offer this and then every few months after that. There is a letter which comes through the post and usually an email detailing anything you do sign up for. Never had an issue with this. It can get annoying with the constant ringing, but I ve found it s very easy to cancel the trials, so I end up paying £4 for a year s wor

Pretended to be from electricity supplier trying to rectify error with meter reading. Asked for confirmation of MPAN but then also wanted the other supply code. I suspected call was not genuine so didn't give and hung up. Someone else called back immediately to continue the call. I told them I didn't think it was genuine and that I would contact my supplier to check readings. Supplier confirmed this was not genuine, at best a cold call attempt to gain business, but I suspect this was more fraudulent.
Fraud - Recorded message claimed to be from HMRC saying a fraud had been committed on my tax account. A warrant for my arrest had been issued and if I didn’t press 1 immediately then the Police would be round very shortly to arrest me
