28/06/18 An India man called from 01420 300017, claiming to be from Telephone Preference Management. He said he was updating records, to stop me getting nuisance calls for life ( alarm bells already ringing). He asked me to confirm that I paid my phone contract by direct debit, and then asked me to confirm my card expiry date...at which point, I hung up.

"Microsoft" scam, claims she's from Microsoft and there's a problem with my computer and wants to take over my computer to put it right (she must of thought was born yesterday!) so played along with her for a few minutes before calling her a scammer and that there is nothing wrong with my computer. She obviously wasn't happy but she kept the scam going so I kept winding her up making her more annoyed. I checked with Homeserve because, coincidentally, I was expecting a call from them but it was not a number that I recognised - It is definitely not Homeserve, it is presumably a scammer. The proper number for Homeserve, if you need them, is 0800 247 999. What worried me and I mentioned it to them, is that Google currently puts ads for the scam number at the top of their search results. Homeserve are looking into this. I hope this information helps.
