Had this number call a few times, yes it's part of Halifax but it's one of many of their areas - it could be birmingham midshires mortgage. It's not a scam. The reason you can't call the number back is it's a number set up not to accept incoming calls - many banks/mortgage companies etc have them now adays. Yes sometimes it's an Asian person, sometimes it's an English person - I'd love to know how you know though that they're muslim! Just because you can't call the numbeer back doesn't = scam. Sadly this IS British gas I phoned them and they admitted that yes they do make presumptive appointments for smart meter installs with the onus on the customer to cancel them The appointment was also on my British Gas online account There is currently NO obligation to have smart meters installed Sadly you cant cancel the appointment online you have to phone them Ive not cancelled yet but put my details in an online complaint and instructed them to cancel it If need be Ill make the call before the appointmen

Safe number to use, initially they called stating they are from CarphoneWarehouse, but the number was genuine from Viva Visa UK as regulated by OISC from the Gov.UK website, they seem to be victim of scam using their ID number in replacement - therefore if you are using their legal service then brilliant carry on, but if you are not then I would suggest blocking the number.

I received a call from this number this morning. The speaker claimed to be from Cellphone Warehouse, offering deals on new mobiles, and asking what kind of mobile I currently had. I told him that I already have enough mobiles and wasn't interested in getting more. He then hung up.
I get one or two calls from this number a day, this has been going on for weeks. Twice I've phoned back and they said they are Co-Op Bank. I said I'm not comfortable talking to them as they called me. They said they really need to speak to me but I need to go through security first, and that I can call from an alternative number if I'd like to. I have now blocked them.
