Received a call on my mobile at around 11.30am, and was told I had a refund via PPI from a credit card or loan. Had to ask me which one and from which bank. (Should know all this before calling me, how else would they know if I m owed anything?) The call has been placed from one of Repsol Sinopec s offshore installations. It is very unlikely to be for marketing purposes. More likely it is an offshore worker trying to call home.
Received call form this number and called back to see who it was. Apparently it is the company that handles upgrades on behalf of T-Mobile. They had called me in error as I am with O2. No problems when I informed them of this.

They phoned me saying they were from BT and trying to stop marketing calls (Like a kind of international Telephone Preference Service) and tried to get get my card details out of me. They read out my name and address to me then asked for the expiration date on my debit card so they could "verify" my details. I gave them a false one. They then asked for the "Reference" number of the card the big number along the top. I asked them to verify my BT account number (I m on Virgin Media) but they did nit see

Beware, this number has reportedly been used by Vanquis Bank representatives. These callers claim to be representing themselves as a variety of other animal/pets or other charities. If you have had a debt with Vanquis and start getting calls from this number then beware. Do a web search using terms vanquis, debt and this (or other) phone numbers - it may be a pursuit of DEBTS!!!

Called today said he was Steve from TalkTalk and my internet connection was about to be shut off for 15 days. He would send a new router and cable to avoid this. He was about to ask me to follow instructions to re-set router, etc when I asked for proof he was from TalkTalk. He hung up! Funny though, we are actually in talks with TalkTalk about a new router and seem to get scam calls right after we speak to them!
