Checked this number on reverse lookup which suggests that this is a Vodafone number. I then I checked on Vodafone 'is it us calling' which says that this is not a Vodafone number

Caller asked for me by name and said that my cooker insurance had expired. This sounded like a scam so I ended the call.

Fraud Scam re National Insurance it says your NI number has been compromised. Of course, if it was you wouldn't receive notification by mobile phone nor would it directly connect you to an operator to sort it out. At that point, I hung up but it still left me feeling concerned and I work in accounts and have regular contact with HMRC so I know it will be even more worrying for others. I have now blocked the number.
