SPAM - Called my landline, answering machine set to immediate intercept, caller immediately hung up. Legitimate callers invariably leave a message. Conclusion: this caller is illegitimate.

I usually don t answer numbers I don t know (as I get a lot), but I felt like answering this time. A bloke with a northern accent asked for Mr Chin . I told him I don t know that name (as it s not my name and I know no one of that name.) The man on the phone then asked: "Are you hiding him?" Pre-recorded message (supposedly from the HMRC) asking you to press 1. If you do not press 1 you are likely to be arrested!
SCAM - recorded message claims your National Insurance number has been involved in fraud/illegal activity and says you must press 1 immediately to speak to an advisor. A quick Google search found lots of examples of this as a phishing message.

There was a recorded announcement of two misuses of my credit card (one of them Tesco). No mention of who was calling. A recorded announcement asked me to "press 2 and hold" to speak to customer service. A male voice with a strong foreign accent then asked me for my personal details. When asked what bank he was from the phone went dead.
Had a missed call almost every day from this number for the last three week,call times vary, from 10am up to 7pm. When I called the number I was put through to Scottish Gas answer service.

Fraud text telling me there is a problem with my o2 account and a link in the text, (which *obviously* I didn't click on). The link address which I typed on my PC to check, comes up with nothing.
Irish lad said he was calling about my frozen pension. i played along and made up stuff about a fictitious pension which he VERIFIED. When said I was just digging out the file to get the pension reference number he hung up, l am a pension administrator so can baffle them with terminology. Proves these calls are a scam.
