I got called by this number earlier today. In my case even though it was unsolicited, it was a welcomed call from Carphone Warehouse. I had an issue with their website and the resolved it for me.

I don't live in Manchester. The phone number shows they called (my mobile) from there, but the bloke told me he was ringing from my local area. Asked for me specifically....

Fishing trip! He asked to speak to Mrs Sims (not my name) and when I asked what the call was regarding he claimed to be calling from the Department of Work !!!!! Apparently according to the system I have worked in a factory. Asked which system and received the reply the work system !! These people don t like to be questioned to any great extent as it exposes the holes in their ridiculous stories. Called the number back and it s a call centre that doesn t receive incoming calls.

Asian men, today he said he was phoning me from Future Trends and would only ask me 2 questions. asked if I was Mr ----- I said yes then asked me if the address he gave was mine, I said yes and he went on to ask me further questions. I told him he had already had his 2 questions and was not amused. I had told them yesterday to remove my number but clearly they have not. I am with TPS but this does no good. Who can we complain to? If this really is HSBC s fraud dept they are staggeringly incompetent and l am by no means convinced that it is. Question of whether there has been fraud on my account remains unsolved - l was unable to give the exact year that l opened my account - approx 40 years ago - and so failed my telephone security check . May be genuine, but they asked me to repeat the same information re my account so many times that l was suspicious, and would urge caution
