I had a guarded conversation with the caller who, as mentioned above, was calling on behalf of the RSPCA. Apparently he wanted to confirm details for Gift Aid purposes, which raised suspicion in my mind as there are always boxes to tick when completing donation forms for any charity. He did have my name and postcode already and was very polite, but clearly working from a script. I have not ever donated by text.

The caller said his name was Alan and he was calling me from Microsoft...... I did not believe him and rang off. I have had similar calls before saying they were from Microsoft,...

This company rings repeatedly, with recorded message. When you get through to an advisor, they word their pitch carefully to give the impression that they work for a government department. They refuse to give their address and the phone they give does not ring. Obviously bunch of con men.
