I m receiving calls from Red Star Financial Management on a weekly basis now. Often twice a week. It s the usual robocalls: My phone rings (either my landline of my smartphone), I answer it, a recorded voice comes on to say, "Please wait while an adviser attends your call", and most times some poor young loser introducing him or herself from Red Star Financial Management asks questions about a bank loan I may have taken out in the 17th century. Other times there is complete silence when I answer the phone,

Caller said he was from Microsoft. Said that my PC had been compromised by hackers. After leading him on for a while I asked him straight if he was after money. He said that he was trying to help but then threatened to lock up my computer. I hung up.

Had a call today saying that they were a new company setting up in my local area and they already had a company in Leeds. Asked me if I drank water. Said no - he was surprised! Then said he didn t blame me. Asked if I would answer a few simple questions to be entered into a prize draw for a holiday. Told me if I won (which was very likely) then he would deliver the tickets to me in person at my house tomorrow. Telemarketing scum seem to have got a new contract, as although others suggest they called on behalf of Orange, I am with Vodafone.

This is the 2nd phone call on my mobile in two days saying that my son may be in receipt of some money. When I asked who they was they repeated that they wanted to speak to my son as it was in his interest and it was confidential, dater protected and so on then and wanted his mobile number. I informed them that I was his mother and if their not prepared to give me information then I m not prepared to divulge information under the dater protection act. They hung up!
