Tried to obtain bank details etc under false pretences, alleging an engineer from BT has detected problems on my home landline and that without rectification I could incur £+ costs but if remedial action is taken quickly charges may be reduced. I was called today by this company and found out who they were (on here). I promptly phoned their 0845 number and requested that they remove me from their database. I explained that I had caller preference and threatened to report them to Ofcom. The interesting thing is that they asked me if I knew a certain person (who they mentioned by name). Received automated message saying they were calling from Amazon about a transaction and if this was not authorised to press 1 to reach their fraud department. Apparently a scam - avoid and block - do not press 1!

I got so fed up I played along with him for 15 mins - he wanted to take control of my PC in order to fix (non existent) problems with my router. What he would have done is anybody s guess, but I assume it would not be to my advantage and probably would have cost me money !

had my full name, asked me about my life insurance policy, when I told her I didn't have one she said good bye and the call ended, definitely a scam of some sort
