When I explained they were not in and asked if I could take a message, the caller sounded annoyed that the person he called for was not in, and then HE HUNG UP. . Cold caller? Telemarketer? My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Fraud Recorded message saying it was from "Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs" claiming there was a "tax fraud claim against me", and to "press 1 to be connected". If I didn't press 1, a warrant for my arrest would be issued and I would be "arrested immediately". Guess what? I didn't press 1 and have not been arrested. They must think we are all stupid.

Fraud COMMERCIAL AND DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS took money of us by claiming they had details of illegal transactions relating to businesses that owe us money. It turns out those businesses are their other client's debtors too and they use their private data illegally. Unfortunately we fell for this scam and paid. The Police let them get away with it as civil matter. The Courts are our only hope.
