SCAM by recorded voice saying they were HM Revenue & Customs and a tax fraud had been reported. Say to press 1 to discuss with the officer. If I didn’t press a number to be connected I woukd soon be arrested. Obviously pressing any key will incur huge charges or they will try to get you to give personal information etc. My number is really private so I wonder just who sold it to these scammers?
Call all time, when questioned the usally hang up, usual nonsense re debt consolidation, can t call back told them I m on TPS no effect, just hang up.

Call claiming they are from the AA legal department. All callers have South African accent.
Number on my phone a few times, answered this morning, the caller said they were from Talktalk. I had my doubts and put the phone down.
A call centre. The caller didn t speak until I had at which point he asked for a previous resident. This number has been registered with TPS for many years so these people should not be making unsolicited calls.

"Industrial Workers Union" scam from Derby had been ringing me daily for around three weeks. Finally gave in to temptation and picked up. "We re totally legit" and "a government body" the man said. Basically boiled down to cold calling people on a tradesman database looking to get money out of past employers for supposed hearing loss. My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Fraud COMMERCIAL AND DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS took money of us by claiming they had details of illegal transactions relating to businesses that owe us money. It turns out those businesses are their other client's debtors too and they use their private data illegally. Unfortunately we fell for this scam and paid. The Police let them get away with it as civil matter. The Courts are our only hope.
