Claimed to be calling from "credit investigation unit" and government had shortlisted me to write off 90% of my debt. I got him to stop, then said I was recording the call and began quizzing him. The story he spun twisted and flipped, wouldn't answer how/why the government knows what my credit status is, or who compiles the shortlist, or where his employer got it. I repeated that I was recording the call and suggested it was a scam. He swore and cut off the call.
I think it is a sub-contracted call centre (why it might sound disingenuous?) of sales people for Sky broadband or agents on commission from Sky. They did indeed do a realtime broadband speed check on what they could offer compared to Virgin, which shut them down. It was easy then to end the call. Call center

On examination, the very nice lady called Jenny said she was calling from South East Asia. An urgent verbal message on a loop advising me that Trojan software had been active on my system and that I should not switch off and should phone this number which I did - they said they were Microsoft (a residential number!?) The person wanted me to hold down the Windows and 'R' keys so that he could correct the problem. I asked him if that enabled him to take control of my machine and he then put the phone down. Seems dodgy.

I’ve just had a call from this number which was automated and informed me that a transaction of £900 had been spent on my Visa Credit Card and to press 1 to enquire about it. This is a scam as I don’t have a Visa Credit Card so everyone please be aware of this number .

The operator said he worked for UK Debt Solutions, it was a bit difficult to understand him because of his Indian like accent and I was right next to some factories thrumming away. Spam. Was an automated message with threat that my internet is going to be disconnected. I have a BT line, so I put the phone down on it and then picked it up and waited for dial tone and then dialled 1572, which allowed me to block the last calling number. Not sure if that blocking facility works on other providers landlines. But worth a try. It's a neat facility.

02031293047 called 13 Mar 23 at 15:06hrs. Asked for me by name, told me as I was over xx years old I qualified for an emergency call button. Politely declined the offer.
This number called me this morning before 09.00hours Now the answer machine, clicked in, but just got a high pitched 1 note for a few seconds. Why don't they speak??? Say who they are and who they want to speak to. Its just so easy, Does it belong to a goverment body in Blackpool, as I don't know anyone in Blackpool at all
