When I get unsolicited calls from numbers I don't know, I press Answer and put my handset aside without saying a word, listening as the scammer says "Hello?" in vain with no response until they eventually realise that the only one's time and money being wasted is their own. An Indian/Pakistani caller who claimed to be from the Telephone Preference Scheme. He knew my number and surname. He asked whether I was receiving unwanted marketing calls. I confirmed that I was receiving unwanted calls at which point he put the phone down.
Automated message telling me my internet connection will be terminated within the next 24 hours due to unusual activity on my IP address, and to press 1 to speak to a technician. I hung up and the number is now blocked.
