But after listening to the voicemail they left I found it was this company who gave a call back number or 01527 419 162 regarding Scottish power. Started as a silent call but picked up by "Danielle" with a Scottish accent. Offered to advise on how to reduce energy costs. Rang off when I started to ask questions about who they were. When I called the number back a recording said it was changed to 118196, a directory inquiries service run by Vox Clarity. Clearly a telemarketer after selling insulation etc
Claimed to be Katie from Sittingbourne Guttering Services. There is no such company. Claimed to be doing a job in the area next week so could offer a £50 discount to clean all gutters and downpipes. However did not seem to have any idea about this size of the house or the amount of work involved. When I asked which days they could make a long list was reeled off... and yet the discount is because they are in the area.
Rang twice and hung up. I saw it was a premium number so did not answer. The best way to notice a scam call is when the caller asks for you by surname (which they cannot pronounce) probably because the forename is not mentioned in the records as they see them. Then scammers ALWAYS ask how you are, which is often when they try pulling up more details from the records.
