On the mobile telephone I no longer use (I just keep it charged as a spare) this number showed up as having rung. Not recognising it, I looked it up and found on other sites that many people had been annoyed and irritated, having received uninvited calls from it. Being short of time, I did not investigate further.

I had a silent call (on 15/5/15)& as I was expecting a call from unknown people on this area code, I used 1471 and phoned back. I heard a recorded message "You were called today by Media Match. The cal was not important and we will try again later. Goodbye" A Google search for Media Match shows a US firm with this name, but on websites similar to this one they claim that they do not cold-call and that their name is being mis-used. I never answer unknown numbers (as a high percentage are PPI/"you ve been involved in an accident"/Debt/"You ve a virus on your computer" type of call - that I look up afterwards on these websites).
