I had a call from this number offering a new boiler for £17 per month. Pressed 5 and ‘Shona’ asked “how may I help you ?” I said “Hello Shona, before we start could you tell me who you are and how you got my number?” she said “err, no!” and hung up.

Not sure.. but I got an automated message when I answered to tell me that my Insurance number had been compromised and I should press 1 before they take action. I hung up. Sounds like a scam !!!!

SCAM This purported to be from the HMRC telling me that a tax fraud case had been made against me. If I didn’t press a number to be connected I woukd soon be arrested. Obviously pressing any key will incur huge charges or they will try to get you to give personal information etc. My number is really private so I wonder just who sold it to these scammers?

I couldn't tell hardly a word this character was saying. Sounded like a long distance call from India whilst he was wearing a big steel bucket on his head! I did pick one word which was "handset" at which I ended the call. My number is registered with the TPS but, as usual, that was a waste of time.
