They phoned me saying they were from BT and trying to stop marketing calls (Like a kind of international Telephone Preference Service) and tried to get get my card details out of me. They read out my name and address to me then asked for the expiration date on my debit card so they could "verify" my details. I gave them a false one. They then asked for the "Reference" number of the card the big number along the top. I asked them to verify my BT account number (I m on Virgin Media) but they did nit see

Hi, just via email and the dating site. A familiar life story regarding wife n daughter so was suspicious. Had a call at 1221 today, 12 Jan 17 but caller left no message, so obviously a scam/spoof/marketing call. Tried ringing the number back but got a Sky Voicemail Service. Tried calling the number again at 1530 this afternoon, only to have an automated message saying the Voicemailbox was full & could not take any more messages. I think this was a fraud check call from Bank of Scotland that I answered and was then transferred to the customer service dept which wasn t answered promptly. I hung up, but this resulted in a 27p charge for me. Not a lot, but a good scam if you manage it for a lot of people!
