Immediate update - I got an almost immediate reply to my emails and they say that although this is a one-off £10 charge for a 12-month reminder service for which they make it clear there is a charge (hmmmm) they will process an immediate refund via the Post Office. So easy that one can only infer that they receive many, many requests per day for refunds from people such as me who are totally unaware that they had signed up. Result! I emailed [email protected]

Scouse woman got stroppy when I kept saying "Yes" to each question and told me they would keep calling back. Good good good you silly daft cow you are calling me on a phone set aside for this very purpose. The only way to stop these calls is to keep a personal attack alarm by the phone. They called and hung up. I didn't call back as there's a scam now where if you call back certain numbers it shows up on your bill as you've called them back and it's listed as anything from 1 to 12 hours. This bill is about 300 quid so if it's genuine they can leave a message as far as I'm concerned

They left answerphone messages - Claimed to be HMRC and are preparing a lawsuit against you. Call this number immediately. Yeah right, total scam. Worry that some people may be worried enough by the threatening nature to fall for it. They also called a couple of times from 0113 3281205 with the same voice and message funnily enough! HMRC would never leave a message like that so these calls are always scams.
