Scam and/or phishing attempt. It attempted to get me to message the phone number via WhatsApp. The person had sent an SMS from another number (07566706069) claiming to have dropped their phone down the toilet and that they’d instantly acquired a new phone. They asked me to message specifically via WhatsApp (???). This is the fourth message I’ve had this week, from a variety of unknowns, being asked to message a new number by someone claiming to have lost/damaged their phone.
This number called me using a system generated voice purporting to be online security presumably, had I not put the phone down, to extort money. BEWARE

Text from this number claims to be from Barclays saying a payment was set up to someone. It included a link, which I didn't use, as I don't bank with Barclays. Obviously a scam.
Caller said a £900 payment was on my visa card and could I verify it.I hung up.

The bank would never phone u with an automated call and not identify themselves and ask u to press numbers like this. This is so they can get access to ur details. These people r TOTAL SCUM. Number rang me, when I answered it then started ringing. Essentially very likely SPAM that is mass calling numbers and then connecting you with an operator if you answer. I didn't hold on to find out. Some cheek, SPAMing me the getting me to wait for an agent..

SCAM. I have listed this as a scam because it is a call from out of the blue and as soon as my answerphone kicked in the call was terminated. Usually this means the caller is up to no good from my experience and if they don't leave a short message.
