SCAM claimed to be insurance on domestic appliances up for renewal - quoted my name, address and phone number (all as per phone directory) at me,then asked for my date of birth for verification - I asked him to tell me my date of birth so that I could verify it and (surprise, surprise) the line went dead.

Foreign speaking lady asked to speak to my father by name, informed her he died 16yrs ago. She continued talking about shares he had etc. I asked her to send me details and how she got my phone No. She said it wasn’t possibly because she has hundred of people on her books. Didn’t catch how she got my number, but she also knew my address. Think it is a scam. How low can they stoop.

I had a call today from a South African sounding lady, from London number 020 8089 6127 said she was calling from a company called Teabag that got my suspicions up straight away, asked to speak to me by name, so she already had my name and phone number somehow. Hello, difficult to understand caller as English wasn't good. Wanted to sell me life insurance and wanted me to answer questions. Unwilling to do so. My impression it is a scam. Be careful don't even give your name. Can't wait till the government brings in new legislation to stop selling financial products over the phone.
