Claimed to be from O2 and that I was overpaying for my O2 account (I don't use O2). Told me they would offer me a discount with no other changes to be made. Wanted to send a verification number that I was not to share with anyone else "even 02 staff". Hung up when they realised I wasn't falling for it - I strung them along for at least a few minutes.

Telephone call from 01505 340340 on 3 March, 2023. Recorded message from unidentified "bank" regarding unspecified charges. Option to select number to process call onwards, probably to enable fraud. Obviously terminate telephone call and block number.

Caller stated they were calling from somewhere which sounded like Yonny (EON something) regarding our energy account. Caller did not specify which type of energy. Got a call proclaiming to be O2 offering 30% discount on phone bill free of charge for loyalty. The contract mentioned is 2 weeks old and I haven't paid a bill yet! I ended the call as soon as I could, if it's genuine I would have expected a text from O2 or an email.
This number purports to send messages from Gov.uk, offering energy rebates. My wife pays the electricity bill not me so I was very suspicious when I was saved for my energy company and then the card details with which the company was paid. Pretty sure it is a scam
